Jade T. Chao, Esq.
Jade is an experienced trial lawyer and technical advisor. She graduated from Loyola Law School (J.D. 2001) and worked at the homicide division of the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office, where she handled several high profile murder trials. She also worked for the California State Attorney General's Office handling civil litigation. She clerked for several judges in California State Superior Court. She brings valuable experience in both criminal and civil litigation, as well as a unique bench-side perspective.
Prior to joining the firm, Jade handled litigation matters for both large corporations and individual clients. She defended pharmaceutical products liability, personal injury, and commercial banking matters. She mostly enjoys working closely with her clients and considers them part of the trial team. Her human touch with clients allows her to provide them with the ideal combination of legal and technical expertise. Jade values a team practice with other seasoned lawyers as co-counsel or opposing counsel. Jade has personally conducted all aspects of pre-trial litigation, including discovery, motion practice, and mediation. She is also a champion of negotiated structured settlements. Jade is admitted to practice law before all Courts in the State of California and all Federal District Courts in California. She is also admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Before her legal career, Jade majored in Chemistry and received a Bachelors degree from Cornell University. She then earned a Masters degree at Yale University in Biostatistics and Epidemiology. While at Yale, she worked at the United States National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). She helped investigate airplane crashes and conducted human factors analyses. She received on-the-job training at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Air Force Institute of Pathology (AFIP). Jade also worked as a bio-statistician at Exxon Chemicals where she helped develop a workplace accident tracking database system. She has technical expertise in the areas of forensics, structural defects, and statistics.
Jade enjoys singing and playing the bass guitar. Jade is an alto section leader in the River Of Life Christian Church choir. Jade is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and is a fan of English and Chinese non-fiction. Jade is a Northern California alumni interviewer for Cornell, Yale, and Phillips Exeter Academy.
