Eviction Fundamentals: California Landlord Basics Webinar

Over 43% of people that live in California live in a rental property. While the vast majority of tenants present no issues to landlords, occasionally a conflict or issue will come up that requires the landlord to remove the tenant. This process is called an unlawful detainer action – also known as an eviction. Landlords can protect their rental property by evicting a tenant that violates the terms of the lease agreement – whether by destroying the property or by failing to pay rent.

Brewer Offord & Pedersen LLP recently produced a free webinar about the fundamentals of evictions in California. This webinar constituted the third installment of the California Landlord Basics webinar series.

Part 1 in the series covered deposits, habitability, and leases

Part 2 in the series covered pests, mold, & lease termination

In Part 3 of the California Landlord Basics webinar series, real estate attorneys Henry Chuang and Ashlee D. Adkins discussed important elements of evictions, including:

  • Causes Leading to an Eviction
  • The Eviction Process
  • Technical Pitfalls During an Eviction
  • Tenant Defenses
  • Preparing for Eviction Proceedings
