It feels as if the year has barely started; blink once, and March is already over! So far, 2018 has been a year of excitement and energy, and we at Brewer Offord & Pedersen LLP have been hard at work. Over the New Year’s break, we had new carpets and baseboards installed in our office, to create a more welcoming atmosphere for our clients and guests. Our attorneys have presented several educational speaking engagements to a wide range of organizations, and our team completed our annual publication about the new real estate laws in California. Two of our attorneys became leaders for the real estate section of a local bar association, and, for the first time ever, our firm had a seminar approved by the State Bar of California for mCLE credit. We’ve already accomplished so much, but there are many, many exciting things that are just around the corner — and we can’t wait to share them with you!
In this month’s newsletter, we highlight many of our recent presentations and webinars, such as our 2018 New Laws e-book and our webinars. Additionally, you can connect with our firm in new ways by following our new online profiles.

Replay of Partition Action Webinar
When real estate is inherited from family members, the property is often placed in the hands of multiple owners. Additionally, it is increasingly more common in the Bay Area for buyers to buy a property together with other people – family members, roommates, friends – to make it more affordable. Being a co-owner for a property offers many benefits; however, sometimes disagreements arise between co-owners that affect the future of the property. Any co-owner can exit a co-ownership arrangement through a process called partition. In a partition action, the property can be divided, bought out, or — more commonly — sold, and there isn’t much the other owners can do to stop the process. Attorney Ashlee D. Adkins recently presented a webinar about partition actions and co-ownership issues in California.
